MUSO SOUP ALBUMS #28:
It's an American band, formed in 2009, but with current formation since 2013.

With "Awaken" being their most recent studio album, right at the beginning, we can already see the reason for being present in this week's list. With female vocals, they make a beautiful mix between heavy and melodic rock, with very well conducted vocals, together with fast-paced, engaging riffs and a heavy drum rhythm, in a sound that goes through modern and classic rock, bringing weight and musical maturity that would certainly captivate audiences at stadiums and international fests.

On this job, in addition to their hard rock production skills, they've worked with producer/engineer Mike Ferretti (Sevendust, Saliva, Brand of Julez) and pop/R&B producer Earl Cohen (Lady Gaga, Jessica Simpson, Pink.), bringing a touch of production and even pop beats to an essentially hard/classic rock work. Along with that, the band offers a solid and mature performance, putting great melodies, riffs, drums and a really wonderful voice
Reality Suitetag:realitysuite.com,2005:Post/66944622021-07-18T16:00:00-04:002021-07-21T16:11:38-04:00INDIE DOCK MUSIC BLOG: Awaken (review)
INDIE DOCK MUSIC BLOG: Awaken (review)

There are plenty of wonderful new bands that profess the aesthetics of classic rock, and this only pleases and gives confidence in the future development of rock n roll. One such band is Reality Suite from New Jersey, USA.

Their style and presentation distinguish them from their colleagues by the quality of creative thinking and arranging innovations. Reality Suite's latest full-length album is called 'Awaken' and it was recently released again on vinyl exclusively through Spin Me Round Records. The work includes 12 tracks. Let's describe a few of them. Below on Spotify is the whole album 'Awaken (Deluxe Edition)'.

'Kiss the Ring' begins with the singing of the anthem in the style of Bon Jovi. Female vocals add to the music of Reality Suite sophistication and grace interrupted by beautiful guitar solos. The synthesizer riff of the song memorizes the motif and leaves it in our memory for a long time. 'Bury Me Alive 'begins with a powerful guitar riff that turns into a cascading rhythm of poems and a great pop chorus.

The pop-rock song 'Wrong with Me' has beautiful melodies with guitar arpeggios and inspiring wide choruses. The album also includes one acoustic song 'Grave (Unplugged)' a version of the powerful original track 'Grave' that is emotional. The romantic meaning takes us into a whirlpool of feelings sung by the unforgettable voice of the singer Reality Suite.

Reality Suite is without a doubt one of the most energetic and impressive bands on the scene presently. They have an awesome hard-rock sound that is reminiscent of the legendary bands of yesteryear who blew the roof off of stadium shows. I would not be surprised if they were responsible for a few roofs being destroyed in the near future now that lockdowns are coming to an end, and live music is coming back.

Amazing vocals, incredible guitar playing, banging bass, and thunderous drums, "Reality Suite" is the real deal! You need no more proof than to listen to their 2021 single "Triggers," for which you can view the video below. It is an awesome hard-hitting song that towers over what has become the industry standard, for both production and performance. If you're a fan of hard-rock music, and you haven't listened to Reality Suite yet, then you are seriously missing out. So do yourself a favor and use the links below to go listen to this band NOW!!!!
Reality Suitetag:realitysuite.com,2005:Post/66843732021-06-09T16:00:00-04:002021-07-10T16:04:30-04:00INSANE BLOG - Kiss the Ring (Live in Asbury Park) feature
INSANE BLOG
Reality Suitetag:realitysuite.com,2005:Post/66650242021-06-06T14:00:00-04:002021-06-20T14:04:19-04:00WRAT: KISS THE RING (LIVE IN ASBURY PARK) VIDEO OF THE WEEK!
Video of the Week!
Reality Suitetag:realitysuite.com,2005:Post/66650172021-06-05T14:00:00-04:002021-06-20T13:51:06-04:00UNDERGROUND N' PROUD: Kiss the Ring (Live in Asbury Park) is featured
UNDERGROUND N' PROUD
Reality Suitetag:realitysuite.com,2005:Post/66650232021-05-30T14:00:00-04:002021-06-20T14:03:15-04:00WRAT: BAND OF THE WEEK!
Band of the Week!
Reality Suitetag:realitysuite.com,2005:Post/66653082021-04-02T00:00:00-04:002021-06-21T00:24:59-04:00DIRECT ACTU: French Music-zine reviews "Triggers"
DIRECT ACTU

(Translated from French)

Ce qui marque l’esprit à la première écoute c’est la puissance de la mélodie, elle n’a pourtant pas grande chose de nouvelle, mais elle fonctionne!

Vocally, Kimmii Heart probably brings all the interest of the titles of the project launched in 2013 by a bunch of friends from New Jersey!

She offers something fresh and mature, without leaving aside the current pop inspirations in her way of placing her voice, musically it is the guitar solos that allow you to feel the heavy inspirations of the project.

Concretely this group is interesting and we hope to soon discover other titles with this formula that works but a little more thing which will make them a memorable group having produced THE SONG!

Reality Suitetag:realitysuite.com,2005:Post/66653142021-03-16T00:00:00-04:002021-06-21T00:34:45-04:00Geoff Wilbur's Music Blog: review of "Triggers"
Geoff Wilbur's Music Blog

Reality Suite‘s “Triggers” is hard rock with a monster hook! Within a listen or two, this song solidified itself as one of my favorite rock tunes of the year.

Melodic hard rock rhythm, a vocal edge that reminds me of someone (I think) but I can’t quite place it. Something like a cross between Kariselle Snow’s sound with Karousel with an ’80s/’90s hard rock power and a bit of a pop-punk edge. Kimmii Heart has a big, round sound on her vowels, then slices through the music bed with a very tuneful punk-caliber wail. With attitude, though that can almost go unsaid when describing a singer in a New Jersey band. Indeed, her voice alone could be considered a signature sound.

And yet, the musicianship in the band provides powerful yet positive energy, an engagingly jerky rhythm. Essentially, Reality Suite – with Brian King on drums, Joe Padula on guitar, and Antonio Valenti on bass – also lays down a relatively unique sound musically, vocals notwithstanding. (I actually kind of dig the “official studio video” because it more readily showcases Joe’s serious guitar-shredding skills in the late song guitar solo.) Combined with Kimmii’s vocals, you’ll know this is a Reality Suite song within a few notes. High-quality, easily identifiable rock ‘n roll. That’s a clear recipe for success.

As a listener, though, you don’t care about that. It’s simply a kick-ass song. And relatable, too, as the lyric video (yes, the band made three music videos for this song!) will help you realize the connection to today’s odd reality if you hadn’t already made the connection.

Bottom line, if you’re at all interested in catchy hard rock, consider this an introduction to what’s almost certain to become one of your favorite rock songs of 2021.

And, you know, now that I’ve been introduced to Reality Suite, I’ve been listening to some of the band’s other releases from the last 2-3 years. From the standpoint of now being a fan of this band, “Triggers” isn’t a fluke, though yeah, it does have a lightning-in-a-bottle monster hook.

This powerful track “Triggers” from professional band Reality Suite, will leave you stuck on repeat for a long time! This track is a great experience from start to finish! The guitars are incredible and the drums are so enjoyable. The female vocalist Kimmii Heart has one of the richest voices we’ve heard in months, and her vocal performance on this track is on another level. The melodies are very catchy and the lyrics are so original. The production is solid and smart and the atmosphere is unique. This band has so much talent and their music sets them apart from the crowd! We are very excited to listen to the next projects from this band!
Reality Suitetag:realitysuite.com,2005:Post/65418952021-02-07T08:45:43-05:002021-02-07T08:46:16-05:00METAL ROCK PUNK NEWS: Triggers official video featured
http://metal-rock-punk-news.blogspot.com/2021/02/reality-suite-triggers-official-music.html
Reality Suitetag:realitysuite.com,2005:Post/66664292021-02-05T00:25:00-05:002021-06-22T00:11:47-04:00KISS KISS KILL: A Britsh based female -fronted rock band reacts to TRIGGERS

Reality Suitetag:realitysuite.com,2005:Post/66653152021-01-19T00:00:00-05:002021-06-21T00:41:14-04:00STEREO STICKMAN: Triggers review
STEREO STICKMAN

After riding out a tumultuous 2020 on the low-ley, the long-awaited return from alt-rockers Reality Suite – the first since their 2019 album Awaken – comes in the form of a topical and powerful new single entitled Triggers.

Featuring a certain rock weight and structuring simplicity that quickly lets the song weave its way into your psyche, Triggers brings together superb riffs, easy melodies, and that unforgettable passion and power the band never fails to deliver.

Superb song-writing stands tall at every turn here, not least of all the drop to that hook – the whole thing feels genuinely intentional, inspired and emotively overwhelmed by the current state of the world, and intent on expression above all else.

There’s a hypnotic outcry to the progression and melody, the unity between tune and lyrics, and as ever the band’s faultless vocalist injects a mighty sense of realism and further connection to bridge that gap all the more so. It’s a song for the fans, for the people, for the band, and it does precisely what we needed it to do – including venturing out into sublime rock solo territories during the final quarter.

Stunning, really well done. An anthem for our year. Listen loud.
Reality Suitetag:realitysuite.com,2005:Post/65251622021-01-09T17:25:00-05:002021-01-19T17:22:39-05:00FEMMETAL: Triggers - single review
FEMMETAL: Triggers - single review

New Jersey rockers, Reality Suite, are set to release ‘Triggers’, a new single with a music video, on February 5th, 2021. The single will become Reality Suite most recent music, following their 2019 album, ‘Awaken’. The upcoming single was mixed by Mike Ferretti, who previously worked with Sevendust and Saliva and was nominated for a Grammy two times.

‘Triggers’ will be released through DI Records and will be available on all platforms. Fans can pre-order the single since January 5th on this link.

FemMetal had the chance to listen to Triggers and write this short review about it.

Reality Suite is a band we love to talk about, simply because every time they put out a single, an EP, an album, or a live album, we can sense with clarity their passion and love for what they’re doing, and their continuous efforts to refine their sound and making it better than it already is. ‘Triggers’ is not a different case.

The song begins with a simple and slow melody that grows into the chorus, where Kimmii expresses the feelings in the lyrics with a strong and emotional voice. The bass and drums on this song are so damn good. The progression of the song is also very interesting as it continues to build up energy into the end, with a long and fantastic guitar solo being the icing on the cake.

Once again, Reality Suite has come up with a theme in their music that touches issues on the social level. ‘Triggers’ however, felt more personal and would sound to many fans as an inner voice they’d hear at certain stages in their life. It’s what some people call ‘the song talking to them directly’.

We strongly recommend ‘Triggers’ to Rock fans who would love a modern Rock sound that is as good as the Classic Rock sound.

Remember to check out Reality Suite’s social media to stay in touch with the band.

After REALITY SUITE's album “Awaken” , the Hard Rock Quartet can now be heard live at Alpha Wave Studios.

Front woman Kimmii Heart's voice is particularly expressive in the live performances . As on "Awaken", the singer also offers rock'n'roll approaches, which are sometimes paired with shout-like inserts. At "Wingman" the vocalist gets support from the backing vocals. In “Cut, Burn, Bruise” Kimmii showsthat she can use her singing in a variety of ways and offers her listeners a different kind of singing. Here the singing rocker is clearly in the foreground and therefore the instruments tend to stay in the background. Because of the vocal variation of one of my favorite tracks on the whole work. Heavy riffs can be found on "Blame It On Angels". Numerous electric guitar solos and drum inserts give the recordings the necessary coolness. The number “Grave” fits as a dark ballad. Here you will find quieter vocal passages. "Wrong With Me" has catchy tunes. Here you are encouraged to sing along and the chorus is memorized very easily.

My personal favorites besides "Cut, Burn, Bruise" are "Blame It On Angels", "Familiar Taste Of Poison" and "Kiss The Ring".
With the live album, the rocking sound of Kimmii ' s voice is more effective than on "Awaken". Sing-Alone Tuning on “Wrong With Me” also works perfectly. The unplugged version of "Grave" is clearly missing on the live album, since this song was very distinctive on the disc "Awaken". This number also skillfully rounded off the end of the album.
On "Awaken" Kimmii's voice left a lot of space up. With the live album, however, there is nothing to criticize about their singing, since it is used much better live.

Rating: 3.5 / 5.0
Reality Suitetag:realitysuite.com,2005:Post/63474052020-06-02T11:40:00-04:002020-06-09T11:40:08-04:00FEMMETAL – GODDESSES OF METAL: Live at Alpha Wave Studios (Review)
FEMMETAL – GODDESSES OF METAL: Live at Alpha Wave Studios (Review)

The band we are about to write about is one of our favourites. The stunning Rock music they create is something we miss and wish there was a lot more of. Their talent and love to the art is clear in their passion that was obvious through their debut album ‘Skinn’ and their 2019 full length album ‘Awaken’. And now we have the chance to grab a part of their live performance as they release a new live album!

This is our first live album review! In order to make the review interesting we will walk you through the songs one by one, commenting on the general sound and feels from the band’s performance rather than the music, as we already reviewed most songs of from the show in another article.

The show opens up with Wingman, the hit from the band’s 2015 album ‘Skinn’, reminding us how they have always been masters of guitar riffs and solos since their early days. Wingman makes way for another song with a majestic riff, Bury Me Alive, the 2016 single re-released in 2019’s ‘Awaken’, which perfectly showcases the quality of their live performance and the connection with the crowd that is heard expressing admiration after the well-played guitar solo.

The show continues with a softer song, Cut, Burn, Bruise, the emotional ‘Awaken’ hit. Although slower and softer the song maintains the energy of the show. The lower instrument volume is a chance to enjoy hearing Kimmii Heart’s outstanding vocals clearer. At the end of the song, Kimmii thanks the crowd and organizers, introducing the next song Blame It On Angels.

Blame It On Angels is a good song that continues with the slower sound of its predecessor with another good riff. This song ends the almost ten-minute break from Reality Suite‘s dominant fast and heavy sound.

Next comes the title song from debut album, Skinn, with its awesome opening beat and speedy tune, bringing back the speed to the mood, as the excited crowd can be heard clapping and screaming. Grave, the song recently released as a single with a music video, comes next. The soothing guitar tune with the calm vocals that build up to an emotional chorus certainly leaves an impact on the crowd that explodes in cheers and claps to the song.

Next, the band performs a cover of Halestorm‘s Familiar Taste of Poison, superbly performed. Then the band puts the mood on fire again with Live Now Forever, a fast guitar-fueled Rock anthem. Another then new song is introduced next. Wrong With Me begins with Kimmii inviting the crowd to sing with her as she vocalizes with the intro tune. The song quickly captures the interest of the crowd as they make noise all through it and explode in claps and cheers as it ends.

Next, Dead to Me, with its heavy tune and awesome chorus begins fueling the room with more energy as the great live performance continues by all members. Following is Kiss the Ring, that was newly released as a music video back then, as Kimmii announces, inviting the audience to see it. Then the song begins to spread its usual energy and joy to end with the cheers and claps as every song. The show ends with one of the band’s earliest hits, Die Dreaming from ‘Skinn’. The song ends the show as the satisfied crowd screams with the instruments playing their final extended tunes and Kimmii Heart saying “thank you”. No Kimmii, thank YOU.

The most interesting thing about this live album is that many of the songs were either brand new or unreleased. Yet, Reality Suite managed to capture the interest and love to their crowd by making them feel involved in the song and by their wonderful performance. Kimmi’s live voice is one other aspect this live album showcased.

We recommend ‘Live at Alpha Wave Studio’ for all fans of Rock music. It’s a great chance to see one of the best bands in the Rock scene perform organically with the energy of a crowd in the room.

US Rock band REALITY SUITE has released a live album entitled “アルファウェイヴスタジオでのライヴ (Live at Alpha Wave Studios)” with 12 tracks on May 19th, 2020. May 2020, the United States is polarized by the COVID-19, and Reality Suite’s home state of New Jersey is a hot spot with the death toll rising each day. Currently, the band is forced to postponed rehearsals and performances as well as other bands. In this difficult situation, the album they released was what recorded at Alpha Wave Studios in East Hanover, New Jersey exactly one year ago May 19th, 2019. Performing their yet-to-be-released album ”Awaken (Deluxe)” mixed with fan favorites from their debut album ”Skinn”, this was the first and only time that REALITY SUITE has live-streamed a complete concert worldwide. It was held with great regard that longtime fans from around the world who have yet to see REALITY SUITE would be watching - and this performance was for them just as much as it was for the 60 in-house attendees. You may wonder why the title in Japanese on that? Band drummer, Brian King, says: 'I've always been a fan of Japanese imports and wanted the look of the album to appear like a Japanese import.' If you would like to get this album, please contact REALITY SUITE.

Reality Suitetag:realitysuite.com,2005:Post/63473832020-05-12T11:20:00-04:002020-06-09T11:18:56-04:00STEREO STICKMAN: Live at Alpha Wave Studios (Review)
STEREO STICKMAN: Live at Alpha Wave Studios (Review)

Capturing a live performance is always a challenge – for the techies, for the artist – and then for the mixer/masterer.

There have been some huge live albums (Frampton Comes Alive), and others where the artist has publicly disowned them (Queen Live Killers). Fortunately, this proudly falls into the former camp.

Showcasing just the right amount of enthusiastic audience ambiance, the album kicks off with Wingman, and as on opener, it really delivers – setting the audience (and the listener at home) at ease with some tight riffing, tuneful vocals and appreciation for tuning in! Reality Suite can deliver live, without question.

The vocals cut through the mix well and the enunciation is good, they don’t sound like they’re floating on top of the rest of the band. There’s enough definition to hear the guitar work, and the slap and thud of the kit is reassuringly crisp, but with enough fizz to retain the live atmosphere. On Bury Me Alive, we get nicely-judged backing vocals for the main vocal hooks, while the lead gets to fly off and showcase endurance and power.

The drummer gets to use both his kick pedals (I’m assuming a technique here) and the riffing gives way to a furious, accomplished guitar solo, which comes to a dead stop. We get to hear the audience loving it in the tiny gap in the sound, and then the song drives home in a breathless shot of adrenalin that had me nodding along. Tut, tut, I’m supposed to retain an objective distance from what I review. This won’t do!

Cut, Burn, Bruise. More powerhouse harmonies, which I always appreciate, and some playful rhythms for them to glue onto. There’s a different flavour to this tune, and it’s good to hear a different tempo being flexed. Some tight syncopation for the band to latch onto, as well, which they do with some aplomb.

Good to hear some hard rocking guitar squeals get exorcised in Blame It On Angels. This song sports some properly angular melodies and I’m loving it. I often reference the band Furslide, as I feel they are a lost gem, and the melodic sensibility on this song is truly reminiscent of their songwriting nous. It’s really interesting and satisfying. And my favourite on the album because of it. And the guitar gets a dynamic workout, too – riffing, squalling and tastefully soloing over a suddenly spacious rhythm section.

Skinn has a different feel again, and the bass gets to shine at the top of this one, and throughout. There’s also a great unison singing section which gets the excitement pumping. And it features a nice indulgent protracted live ending for all you rockers out there. We get thanked again. What a grateful, polite bunch Reality Suite are!

Grave welcomes in a more pensive moment, and it suits the singer’s voice nicely. It’s good to experience that half-time feel in the pre-chorus, allowing the chorus to take off. ‘What do I do / Without you here / Without you near?’ Well, quite.

Familiar Taste of Poison is a slightly schizophrenic tune that allows the singer some headroom to showcase just how she good she is, showing some tender unvarnished falsetto and natural vibrato which is bang on. And then she rips it out again to emote in harsher tone. It’s properly impressive, and I’m glad there’s a song like this in the set.

And on we roll! We get some audience participation in Wrong With Me (as ever, they are told they can ‘do better than that’), and we groove anew in the playful Dead To Me. The vocal gets a little overdriven for Kiss The Ring and that creates a nice edge to latch onto. And so we end up at Die Dreaming… And we’re done! Phew.

What we have here is a confident band whose confidence is well-founded – as it understands that dynamics keep a show interesting. Rock solid songwriting has laid the foundation for a live album that offers some shining performances – so it seems like fate dictated a good show for them to capture. Better yet, the performances don’t dip as the gig progresses. However, they don’t play like machines, there are enough variations and slight moments of looseness to champion the very human. Live albums can be tough to review, but this was easy – easy to get and easy to recommend. So do check it out.

Hell’s teeth, I just thought of a really bad pun. Reality Suite have delivered a really sweet live experience in album form. Yeah, I went there!

Rough translation:

Lion Pride Music reissued the five-track EP "Awaken" as released in 2018 by a four-person band with female vocalist Kimmii Heart from New Jersey. Reality Suite has released two full albums and multiple EPs so far, but since they are all independent, this is their first release under licence with the label. Additional versions of new songs and already released songs have been added. It's a hard, yet modern, clean-cut sound, and although it's a style with Kimmii’s vocals, it's quite a master and attractive. It's reasonably good and cool, but it's so complete that the level isn't too high, so it's hard to say that it doesn't seem to grow any further.

Traditional witch-hunt campaigns launched by religious zealots are no longer the biggest threat facing women. Today, in the dawn of the second decade of the 21st century, women are facing a new kind of witch-hunts related to the way they look and the way they dress.

Traditional witch-hunts were launched against women that were considered having ways of thinking that were unorthodox to the common standards, these standards being rules set by a group of men with the sole aim of growing in power and reach. Modern witch-hunts have many similarities, being also launched against women who have the physical appearance that is different to the set of standards that a group of men created, and used the media to make it as if these are the only standards for a woman to be considered beautiful.

And the result? According to bullyingstatistics.org, 94% of teenage girls have fell victim to body shaming. The same source states that this kind of shaming not only affects these young women physically, but also mentally.

That being said, art remains the strongest of weapons to fight back against these brutal attempts to shape a world in way that fits misogynists. Reality Suite has grabbed that sword and is waving it relentlessly in the face of close-minded and sexist parts of the society. Watch their latest music video for their single Grave to see them fighting and winning the fight.

“The video of Grave,” the band states, “addresses the female struggle with self image and pressures to appear perfect within social media. The story follows Kimmii. our singer who is pressured into cosmetic surgery. After a procedure, there are complications with her recovery which results in a rescue mission with first responders. The video explores other female pressures via substories portrayed by other female actors – all the while the band performs after dark, surrounded by a candlelight vigil. At the climax of the video, Kimmii strips and says goodbye to her demons as she throws her wedding dress into a bonfire surrounded by onlookers.”

This wonderful message in Grave should be a reminder to both young men and women, parents and children, teachers and students: Do not let standards placed by society on how the physical appearance should be like be the scale in which you view yourself or people around you.

FemMetal’s reporter Betty stated: “When I watched the video it really touched me. As a teenager I had a friend who was fat and dressed in baggy clothes while I had an skinny body and wore more revealing clothes. We were both body-shamed. I was called a slut several times while she had it worst with insults and jokes coming after her all the time. We both suffered from depression from that. It showed us that you can never make society happy because they will always find something negative to say about you, especially if you’re a girl.”

We hope all women and teenagers in general can get rid of their demons, just like Kimmii did in Grave.
Reality Suitetag:realitysuite.com,2005:Post/61962722020-01-29T21:27:19-05:002020-01-29T21:27:19-05:00MAKIN WAVES: Awaken (Deluxe) Record of the Week
Makin Waves Record of the Week: "Awaken (Deluxe)" by Reality Suite

For 10 years, childhood friends Brian King (drums), Antonio Valenti (bass) and Joe Padula (guitars) have been slugging it out in the local music scene as the three founding members of the North Haledon-based Reality Suite. Their hard work and fierce determination have paid off. With Kimmii Heart, the melodic hard-rock band’s adored lead vocalist since 2013, Reality Suite have released their international debut for the Denmark label Lions Pride Music.

The 12-track “Awaken (Deluxe)” features four great new songs added to the heralded self-released five-song 2018 EP, “Awaken.” There are also three bonus tracks, including an unplugged version of the EP track “Grave,” as well as radio edits of two new songs.

They are the LP’s first single and video, “Kiss the Ring,” a fun but furious refusal to conform within an abusive relationship, and the likely next single, “Wrong with Me,” a self-examining survival saga of a fool in toxic love featuring great gang backing vocals.

The sassy “Kiss the Ring” is the Makin Waves Song of the Week, which can be heard four times daily at AsburyMusic.com, 6:45 p.m. on Friday and Monday on the station’s “Radio Jersey” show, and at Makin Waves’ Spotify & YouTube playlists. “Kiss the Ring” also can be enjoyed as one of the year’s best videos by a Jersey band with Kimmii stepping into the ring at Savage Boxing & Fitness in Hackensack for a fun mix of beauty and beast infectiously lensed by Alex Kouvatsos of Blackwolf Imaging.

Co-produced with the band by hard-rock helmsman Mike Ferretti (Sevendust, Saliva) and pop/R&B producer Earl Cohen (Lady Gaga, Jessica Simpson, Pink), the LP version of “Awaken” also features the new tunes:

“Blame It on Angels,” a tale of redemption that’s as beautiful as it is exciting, especially Kimmii’s soaring vocal and Joe’s squawking guitar

“Bury Me Alive,” poppy hard rock along the lines of Bon Jovi and Def Leppard but with better vocals and a particularly strong drum performance by Brian, all of which has been captured in the band’s latest fun video.

Their first full-length since the internationally acclaimed 2015 self-produced effort, “Skinn,” Reality Suite’s latest collection of power chords and power vocals also features the “Awaken” EP tracks:

“Live Now Forever,” a Randy Rhodes-like guitar scorcher balanced out by strong vocal harmonies.

“Cut, Burn, Bruise,” a spirited salute to Brian’s late mother within a tug-of-war of love

“Dead to Me,” a rockin’ stomp in which Kimmii takes on the role of Mafia Princess, while another fun gang backing vocal adds to the punch to the vengeful tale

“Lust,” one of the strongest vocal turns on a tune about obsession.

Throughout the album, I like the way Kimmii’s vox goes from angelically sweet to witchy snarl within a verse; Joe’s guitars solos soar and explode, and the machine-gun rhythms of Antonio and Brian make it sound as if there’s a double-bass drum on some tracks. Check it out live when Reality Suite open for L.A. ’80s rockers RATT on July 13 at the Keswick Theatre in Glenside, Pa. They’ll also play Aug. 24 at The Chubby Pickle in Highlands; Aug. 30, Crossroads, Garwood with Centennials and Circle of Grief, and Oct. 11, Revolution Music Hall in Long Island.
Reality Suitetag:realitysuite.com,2005:Post/61962632020-01-29T21:04:33-05:002020-01-29T21:06:29-05:00ROCK HARD Awaken (Deluxe) review

Translated from French

Not being born of the last rain, and not selling the skin of the bear before boiling the water that does not amass foam, I have always felt the greatest distrust of 2K groups whose main promotional argument is the number of followers on the web. We must adapt to the standards of success of his time, and today, the popularity is no longer counted in the number of records or concert tickets sold, but the number of likes and quidams following your wanderings on the virtual canvas. And when this kind of group puts forward a buxom singer with outrageous makeup, suspicion turns into mistrust, as if they had to settle their account to those artists who think that a passage in "The Voice" is worth more than the whole Sweat sweated to prepare her big night. But what do you want, having grown up with the heroes of the seventies as models, I still have reflexes of the rear guard who is afraid but never lies, attitude not really adapted to our time, but which avoids many superficial disappointments. Thus,REALITY SUITE at first seem to be part of this category of artists entirely dedicated to the 32-bit golden calf, but reading their biography and listening to their music, I can only emit a single report. Whatever their current success, they deserve it amply, and are much less superficial than their attitude suggests. Founded in 2009 in North Haledon, New Jersey by childhood friends Brian King (drums) Antonio Valenti (bass) and Joe Padula (guitar), REALITY SUITE eventually became a quartet after intensive search of a frontman who went finally turned out to be a frontwoman in 2013 after integrating the beautiful Kimmii Heart behind the microphone, and it's full of certainty that the quartet released its first LP in 2015,Skinn .

Since then, quite a long way, given concerts, and a signature with Lions Pride the Danish label for the release of this Awaken in deluxe version of twelve titles. For the record, Awaken was first published last year, which the group wanted to expand by adding some titles, which allows it today to reach the very reasonable duration of fifty minutes. Fifty minutes, but how? With a nice alternative void that sounds like a product of its time, but whose emptiness would fit perfectly with any decade? No, with a modern and creative Rock at the edge of an alternative Hard Rock, well in its time, but with traditional fundamentals, embedded in a production up in time. Not totally produced by the group, and having benefited from a precious hand of Mike Ferretti (SEVENDUST, SALIVA, BRAND OF JULEZ) and Earl Cohen (LADY GAGA, Jessica SIMPSON, PINK) to the production, Awaken sounds like a very teeny version of a Rock uninhibited and fresh, very pronounced adolescent hooks, and synthetic perfume quite pleasant. Nothing fundamentally innovative, but acquaintances with the generation of DIAMANTE, THE HARDKISS (without the excessive theatrical fashion side), and some allusions to the seniors of Avril LAVIGNE, and other Fefe DOBSON, for an energy that convinces, without going as far as to talk about a "Rock Stadium" that some US journalists have found in articles a little too dithyrambic.

But talent to pick up pretty little hymns on the edge of a Pop-Rock hardened with a distortion present, seductive choruses, and especially, texts much deeper than the eternal troubles lovers and other desires to free themselves the shackles of an oppressive society. Here, we talk about the loss, the dear ones you miss, and many titles are also dedicated to the mourning that life forces us to face. A little more mature than the average, this Awaken surprises with his ability to divert the codes of Hard and Classic Rock to appropriate them, without falling into the pretension of these virtual artists who believe to revolutionize their art which is not one. And if the single "Bury me Alive" plays it a little jumpy around the edges with a guitar lick, his brave attitude convinces us that this quartet is a little more consequent than the average, if only by his Ability to play with the borders to sign a Pop-Rock alternative first hit. But to tell the truth, the listener will become aware of these capacities from the powerful opening "Kiss The Ring", on which Kimmii leaves no doubt about his attitude by launching a challenge " I do not need you telling me what's right" , I ' ". Overflowing with youth, this first LP is very well suited to flexible and synthetic rhythms to tackle pronounced riffs, without falling into the painful trap of modern Metalcore, thanks to a very pronounced sympathy and avowed for a muscular and rough Pop.

The tracks marked by the tragedy darken the panorama, and allow us to appreciate the more intimate side of a chameleon group, leaning on the two songs "Grave" and "Cut Burn Bruise", the sensitivity exacerbated. The modern arrangements do not hide a very pronounced Pop-Rock construction, and finally, REALITY SUITE escapes a dating too pronounced by its traditionalist perspective. A lot of good to take on this second long, especially songs that come out of the mold, such as "Lust", his sharp riff and his prominent bass, "Wrong With Me", his phrasing bumped and references to the beautiful April, or "Blame It On Angels" which takes over the Californian beauty cannons of the 90s to make them more mature. Of course, it will take open-mindedness to appreciate this LP at its fair value, but unstoppable hits like "Live Now Forever" should help you with their more classic sound than it has. 'air. So certainly, the four Americans are well in their time and use the modern weapons at their disposal, but they have bottom, worked form, and deserve as much as others to succeed. And Awaken to pose in spontaneous but refined work, which will undoubtedly help the group to conquer its world in default of the world.
Reality Suitetag:realitysuite.com,2005:Post/58808212019-08-28T17:50:00-04:002019-09-04T17:48:37-04:00viriAOR Awaken (Deluxe) review
viriAOR Awaken (Deluxe) review

From the New York lands of New Jersey, where we saw the birth of Bon Jovi, we get this band called REALITY SUITE . After 10 years of independent evolution, releasing singles and EPs, Reality Suite released in a luxury format their latest album "Awaken." On June 28, the Danish label, Lions Pride Music put on sale this album, which, in these holiday dates in which we have more time, we can devote more attention. Preceded by the video, Kiss The Ring , presented on May 17. The production is carried out by the band, together with producer / engineer Mike Ferretti (Sevendust, Saliva, Brand of Julez) and pop/R & B producer Earl Cohen (Lady Gaga, Jessica Simpson, Pink.)

Reality Suite is composed of childhood friends Brian King (drums) Antonio Valenti (bass) and Joe Padula (guitars). After several male and female vocalists, Kimmii Heart joined in 2013 to establish the current formation.

When you start listening to the album, the first thing that surprises with its freshness is Kimmii's commercial vocal recording; It has certain "pop" nuances that give a dynamic touch to the themes. The production stands out and if it were not for the music video being shot in NYC, by the sound of this song, “Kiss the Ring”, you would think that you are with another Swedish band. He does have some very Bettencourt licks (Extreme guitarist), which gives it a different touch.

"Live Now Forever", follows that path influenced by Nuno Bettencourt, in a riff, which transports us to the @RATT vibe of "Detonator". The theme doubles speed at the end of the chorus, yet previously in the pre-chorus it goes very much to "European" harmonies, which, personally, I would have liked to have developed in more "made in USA" paths.

"Blame It On Angels" starts with a riff of raw sound, in a heavy rhythm. Although, a less energetic theme than the previous two songs. It also moves in harmonies closer to the icy Nordic coasts than those washed by the Atlantic, in the domains of Springsteen.

The next video clip appearing is the song "Bury Me Alive," a Heavy Rock song with a commercial hook and pretty good work of Joe Padula and his Les Paul.

"Cut Burn Bruise" contains electronic touches, with a certain closeness to the sounds of Evanescence bands. Although the energetic half-time walks along paths closer to the new Frontiers team.

"Dead to Me" has a very modern beginning with a good job with the faders of the recording table and FX in addition to a rhythm in the chorus that goes from "the ethereal" of the stanza to take us through the sinister domains of Mr. Marilyn Manson and his "The Beautiful People." Talking about rhythmic concepts, a great work of the binomial Brian King (drums) and Antonio Valenti (bass). A very rich topic.

"Wrong with Me" starts very grunge and also relaxes the rhythm of the album along with the previous two tracks. A refrain that does not leave indifferent. It is very well structured.

"Grave" has that pop touch by the production team and it shows in the general atmosphere of the song. On this subject, "classification and labeling" is more diffuse and that is good; It is original and a good choice for single.

Ending this second Reality Suite LP is the song "Lust." A beginning bass and heavy riff, with a refrain that in this case, denotes that it is an American band.

Additionally, we found three of the previous songs, "Kiss the Ring", "Wrong with Me" (like "clean version") a remix with greater brilliance and "Grave", in its acoustic version.

The production is very good, maybe in the compositions I miss a more genuine American sound, (this is something very personal, of course) but in general it is a record to take into account. As for presentation, on August 23, on YouTube, the band made an “unboxing” of the deluxe edition of “Awaken” in which it is also a point to be valued by Lions Pride Music, as an added value.

The general assessment, bringing together all aspects, 80% out of 100.
Reality Suitetag:realitysuite.com,2005:Post/58807572019-07-29T17:30:00-04:002019-09-04T17:28:44-04:00BEROCK ONLINE RADIO Awaken (Deluxe) review
BEROCK ONLINE RADIO Awaken (Deluxe)

Okay, what we're talking about here is an album that truly was a pleasant surprise.

To start things off, REALITY SUITE is a band Formed in 2009 in North Haledon, New Jersey by childhood friends Brian King (drums,) Antonio Valenti (bass,) and Joe Padula (guitars), their ambitions have been to produce heavy, melodic rock. After several male and female vocalists, Kimmii Heart had joined in 2013 establishing the definitive line-up known today worldwide

The band plays honest Hard Rock music with a modern touch. Tons of catchy songs and a very resolute attitude. These guys have definitely created their own unique sound and style! The compositions have a dose of "freshness" and will make you want to start headbanging! They definitely won't go by unnoticed.

If you like to discover new music, then I'm sure this will excite you. Personally, I always liked such releases, because they are a 'breath of fresh air' from what
we're used to listening. Especially if they have diamond tracks in them, like "Kiss The Ring", "Bury Me Alive" and "Wrong With Me". Excellent release by Lions Pride Music.

They've shown to us that they are aiming pretty high with this album. It's one of the great releases of June 2019. If you like quality hard rock, then this is definitely a must-buy for you. A well-written and musically "fresh" album, something that the music scene of rock needs. Due to all that was mentioned, I'd be doing them an injustice if I gave them a score of anything lower than 9/10, and as such I'll be giving them 9/10. Buy it, listen to it and you'll understand!

The rocker, Kimmii Heart gives the rock band REALITY SUITE the necessary Rock`N`Roll through her voice. The vocalist, who was the last to join the band was coined by legends like BON JOVI. There is always something dark in her voice.

Several numbers on the new album "Awaken (Deluxe)" are influenced by personal losses of the band members. "Kiss The Ring" opens the record skillfully and with the other songs the quartet stays true to their own musical style. With "Cut,Burn, Bruise" the instrumental design is in the background and the female vocals are the focus. The track "Wrong With Me" offers a sing-along-passage towards the end. A dark "ballad" can also be found in an unplugged version - here the song "Grave" is set to piano tones and the album is rounded off towards the end.

My personal faves are "Wrong With Me" and of course the last unplugged number, "Grave," although the "normal" version is also good.
Reality Suitetag:realitysuite.com,2005:Post/58807562019-07-27T17:25:00-04:002019-09-04T17:23:22-04:00METAL TEMPLE Awaken (Deluxe) review
METAL TEMPLE Awaken (Deluxe) review

REALITY SUITE is an interesting band formed in 2009 in North Haledon, New Jersey, by childhood friends Brian King (drums), Joe Padula (guitars) and Antonio Valenti (bass), that found most likely its own definitive identity in 2013, when vocalist Kimmii Heart joined the band. In 2018 the release of the EP “Awaken” put a lot of attention on the hard-rock act and finally in 2019 the “Awaken (Deluxe)” was released, first full-length album not band-produced. Not being familiar with the band, I had first had a listening to the previous “Skinn” (2015), that created a lot of expectations in me.

And, I was not disappointed and a little bit surprised. First of all, production is far more better, sounds are clear and modern, especially compared to “Skinn”. And the songwriting? I would say that, while “Skinn” was more “classic” rock style, “Awaken (Deluxe)” winks on a much modern sound, merging some mainstream elements, but let’s start from the start. The cover: it reveals from the very beginning the band evolution into more modern territories; it reminds vaguely of a mix between the covers of “Stoosh” and “Paranoid & Sunburnt” by my beloved Skunk Anansie. And the sound confirms it too (the modern sound, not the similarity with the band!).

The album starts with “Kiss the Ring”, the real highlight of the full-length, but not the only one. I love this song: fresh, modern, full of energy, with a catchy chorus that from the very beginning reveals the great voice and the great personality of Kimmii Heart. And it is not a just a flash of light: the following “Live Now Forever”, “Blame it on Angels”, “Bury me Alive” are on the same high level, especially the latter (I love the powerful rhythm interlude). “Cut, Burn and Bruise” is a softer rock song, nice melody, catchy; comes at the right moment, just to relief the pressure from the gas pedal.

“Dead to Me” (the other single) follows, and also here I like a lot the rhythm section, especially how the drumming of Brian King plays together with the voice of Kimmii Heart. “Wrong with Me”, although a good track, with rhythm changes and good melody, does not convince me, in particular in my opinion the chorus is a little bit repetitive and boring and in my opinion is the weakest track on this full-length. “Grave” and “Lust” close the official album in style. There is still time for a clean version of “Kiss the Ring” and “Wrong with Me” (but, c’mon, we are rockers, and we like the explicit version!), as well as an acoustic version of “Grave”, really appealing, which ends this enjoyable full-length.

“Awaken (Deluxe)” is a big step forward from the previous “Skinn”: REALITY SUITE delivers a solid and mature performance, a masterly mix of melodies, riffs, drumming and a really wonderful voice, together with a pristine production of Mike Ferretti and Earl Cohen, which contributed to the evolution of the band sound, mixing together a classic and modern rock sound, as well as some pop/mainstream elements. Well done!

The twelve track record begins with the recently released single Kiss the Ring which we have reviewed in an earlier post. The upbeat song makes the album beginning perfect and exciting.

Following is the amazing song Live Now Forever, a wonderful song with a nice riff and beautiful lyrics. Next, Blame It on Angels comes. I did not like it as much as I liked the other songs in this album, yet it has a good guitar solo. Bury Me Alive, a song previously released as a single with a music video, comes next. This song is the first song that comes into my mind when I hear of Reality Suite. It has so much identity in it and the guitars are so majestic. Probably my favourite melody by this band.

Then comes my favourite song by Reality Suite. Cut, Burn, Bruise has everything I would love about a “softer” Rock song. The melody falls right into the heart and the vocals on it are breathtaking, which is not surprising when the vocalist is Kimmii Heart. OH and that solo. Just damn it. I love that song.

Dead to Me, another previously released single, and another one of these great Alternative Rock anthems, comes next.

Wrong with Me follows with another gorgeous guitar solo and another upbeat melody. Grave and Lust come next. Two beautiful songs that complete a great album, especially Grave which makes wish it had acoustic version to make the soft melody and vocals more enjoyable. The album also includes clean versions of Kiss the Ring and Wrong with Me in case you’re Will Smith.

OH WAIT! THERE IS AN ACOUSTIC VERSION OF GRAVE!

Awaken (Deluxe) is a great album, and my favourite Rock release in 2019.
On opener “Kiss The Ring” I was surprised by the female vocal. The music is a little heavy and quickly slides into the background, as a strutting pop like diva takes centre stage. The song ends up being a bit of a procession of the same ideas.

The next goes down an even more accessible route and it’s nice, but is that a full compliment? The album just slips into a faux metal space, pop vibes in every pore, just with a bit of guitar bite and some audible drums. The songs aren’t especially memorable either and generally come up with one idea and repeat it.

I’ve already used the word procession and this is all the album manages to be. The tracks fly past, but purely because they lack any real hooks. Perhaps the slower “Grave” has something but it’s way too little too late.

It’s clean and pure but doesn’t satisfy, playing at being a rock album when it seems to want to be pop. I’m not sure that what I think will be the target audience will be convinced either.

There are very few female vocalists in rock music who really get your attention. Of course, there are likes of Amy Lee of Evanescence or the late Dolores O'Riordan coming to your mind when you think about it but then there are surprises. Kimmii Heart of Reality Suite is one of them. An incredibly powerful vocal that goes perfectly together with chosen genre, the singer has a great diction so you understand what she says and that's not always the case these days. Formed in 2009 in North Haledon, New Jersey by childhood friends Brian King (drums,) Antonio Valenti (bass,) and Joe Padula (guitars) – their ambitions have been to produce heavy, melodic rock. After several male and female vocalists, Kimmii Heart had joined in 2013 establishing the definitive line-up known today worldwide.

The lyrics are intense and personal, trying to send a message to the listeners. A true breath of fresh air in melodic rock where most bands are concentrating on the music and the lyrics are often left behind.

Dead To Me is without doubt one of the highlights on this collection. The vocal demands attention from start to finish and the drums just add to the whole feel of the song. There's certain aura about the song, aura of resentment or simply being fed up with the relationship and not wanting anything to do with the person anymore. It's not a sad song, it's more like let's move on song.

Wrong With Me is another example of a powerful song that has something to say. The singer is not just crying over a finished relationship or anything like that, she's mostly wondering what happened that she feels the way she does. The guitar riffs in this song get your ears right away, the whole song is catchy but not too simple.

This album is a real treat for all the rock music lovers out there who also like lyrics with meaning.
Reality Suitetag:realitysuite.com,2005:Post/58807402019-06-23T17:10:00-04:002019-09-04T17:06:34-04:00HEAVY PARADISE Awaken (Deluxe) review
HEAVY PARADISE Awaken (Deluxe) review

Reality Suite is a modern heavy rock band and "Awaken" is entitled their brand new opus that's gonna be released through Lions Pride Music. Formed back in 2009 in New Jersey, Reality Suite released it's debut, "Skinn" in 2015. That album achieved positive feedback and 'put' the band for good among the fans of this particular scene.

Nowadays, Reality Suite is back stronger than ever with their brand new "Awaken" record. To be honest, this opus grabbed my attention at once with its straight-forward modern heavy rock sound, the passionate and in-your-face vocals, the clever n' catchy hooks and the refreshing sound in general.

The opening tune of "Kiss The Ring" is simply one of the album's highlights. Powerful, modern, catchy and punchy as it gets "Kiss The Ring" must be played on maximum volume. Excellent start! "Live Now Forever" features more groove and includes, again, a killer chorus line enough to make you sing-a-long! In "Bury Me Alive", the band delivers a cool rocker (reminds me a bit of ANOUK's debut work...) while in "Dead To Me" Reality Suite performs a huge moodier rock song. A kinda of 'darker' but with an explosive chorus line. The vocals of Kimmii Heart are superb here. The two pop-ish tracks of "Wrong With Me" and "Grave" are two more strong samples of Reality Suite's music; melodic/modern and with a feel-good vibe in it!!

Closing my review, I have to say that I'm really impressed here. "Awaken" is an album that includes the 'whole' package to become a major success for the band. It's melodic, it's aggressive, it's modern, it's up-tempo and features some killer tracks, strong arrangements and performances that will gain the attention of each and every fan of the female-fronted rock in general.

Reality Suite is a New Jersey-based rock band with a fresh sound defined by scorching riffs and anthemic melodies. The band was formed in 2009 by three life-long friends, Brian King (drums) Antonio Valenti (bass) and Joe Padula (guitars). After struggling through a string of male and female vocalists, the wonderful Kimmii Heart came to the rescue, and their winning lineup was firmly established. They released their debut album Skinn to critical acclaim in 2015, and followed a year later with the single “Bury Me Alive.” This May, they dropped their EP Awaken, which I have the pleasure of reviewing today.

The EP is a deeply personal work for the band, each of whom have experienced the death of a loved one in the past few years. In an interview with PopBreak.com, Brian explained: “During the writing for what became “Awaken,” Kimmii and I realized most of what we were writing about were losing loved ones. Each of us had lost someone close to us in the last two years. I lost my mother in 2016 to lung cancer – which spawned the song “Cut, Burn Bruise.” Kimmii lost a close family friend which inspired “Grave.” Antonio lost his mother and Joe had lost an Aunt in 2017 – so, as much as “Grave” and “Cut” are about missing a loved one, in the context with the other songs – “Awaken” becomes an album about recovery and rebirth…leaving the pain behind and moving on. The songs “Live Now Forever,” “Dead to Me,” and “Lust” drive that point home.”

“Dead to Me” perfectly exemplifies their dynamic, hard-hitting sound. Brian’s pounding drum beats establish a sturdy foundation for Joe’s gritty riffs and Antonio’s buzzsaw bass lines, though the song also has moments of relative calm where glossy synths and delicate guitar notes dominate. Kimmii’s emotive vocals run the gamut from seductive purr to malevolent snarl to impassioned wail as she throws dark shade on someone she’s clearly had enough of: “I’m done playing nice with your sick little ways. Breaking my back just to keep you away. It’s over this time I’m losing my mind. You think that I’m blind well I’m feeling like – You’re dead to me!” The music and vocals ultimately build to a crescendo, with sweeping strings, wailing guitars and a soaring harmonic chorus that make for a dramatic finish.

“Grave” is a dark anthemic ballad with fantastic guitar work that wends its way amongst the crushing bass and crashing cymbals. Kimmii’s passionate echoed vocals are marvelous. The band dials things up a notch on “Live Now Forever,” a terrific head-banger with fierce riffs of fuzzy guitars and humming bass. I like the way Joe makes his guitar squeal, and his blistering riffs and Brian’s pummeling drums in the bridge and final chorus are fire. Kimmii’s vocal gymnastics are impressive as she matches the fury of the instrumentals note for note. It’s one of my favorite tracks on the EP.

Another powerful anthem, “Cut, Burn, Bruise” is about missing someone so desperately you’d do almost anything to have them back: “Can’t bring you back. So I drive through the night. Going fast makes me feel alive. You make me feel alive. / Love’s a cut, a burn, a bruise. But I loved you til I’m black and blue. Feeling broken, I am learning to live without you. But I’d die for another day with you.” Reality Suite keeps the hard-driving rock grooves coming with “Lust.” These musicians are really at the top of their game, delivering more of their signature fiery riffs, throbbing bass and tumultuous percussion, and Kimmii’s dazzling vocals raise plenty of goosebumps. It’s a great track, and Awaken is an awesome little EP that packs one hell of a mighty wallop.
Reality Suitetag:realitysuite.com,2005:Post/61963172018-04-29T21:40:00-04:002020-01-29T21:41:00-05:00JERSEY ROCK BAND OF THE WEEK: Reality Suite

Reality Suitetag:realitysuite.com,2005:Post/58808232018-04-29T17:55:00-04:002019-09-04T17:54:26-04:00WRAT 95.5 FM Band of the Week
WRAT 95.5FM Band of the Week

The album Skinn, by the one and only Reality Suite, is exciting for a number of reasons. At it’s core, this particular collection of songs touches on a very specific and often meaningful set of ideas, and yet surrounding the concept are a vast and skillful array of creative rock melodies and riffs.

It’s clear from the first minute or so of Wingman that you’re in for a ride. The music doesn’t merely play, expecting your attention, it reaches out through the speakers and pulls you right in. With finely tuned production in all corners, there was no room for a poor performance from anyone involved – so the result is a pretty flawless collection of musicianship.

Die Dreaming is where things take a dip into the slightly deeper side of the stream, lyrically. And yet, this is the point at which the music seems the most accessible – there’s something very melodically pop-rock about this track; the opening riff, the vocal melody, the isolated voice, the stops and starts, the hook. It’s a little toned down from the opening track, in terms of the whole rock sound, but it’s a great direction to go – the eclectic range of music ahead of you is made clear, and it’s exciting. There’s never a dull moment.

The band follow the structure of what you might call clever or effective song writing, but they also do much more than this – they allow their creative minds to wander off with them a little; they allow their performances to travel away on a tangent, always returning to that hook or that familiarity – so the audience always knows where they are, knows who they’re listening to, and maintains that faith in the band to keep them listening, again and again.

The title track Skinn seems to be a real moment of power for lead singer Kimmii Heart – the vocal performance is huge, soft yet striking, beautifully melodic, and really just loaded to the brim with sensational notes and vocal inflections. It’s a track that sounds great regardless, but for fans of real, classic, melodic rock music – this could well be the moment you’re hooked.

It’s a tough track to follow, but then you get Conspire – a personal favourite, and a massive moment within the album. There’s a gentle and vulnerable nature to this at first, but it’s swiftly blown out of the water by a deep, dark, and distorted hook section. That fusion of the hopeful and the melancholic is a brilliantly captivating way to craft a song. Those ideas and songs at the heart of this album shine brightly here, whilst simultaneously drenching you in rock riffs and unforgettable melodies, not to mention a blissfully organic sounding bridge section – a guitar solo to die for, and a real moment to wonder about and plan for a live show from Reality Suite.

As you make your way through the tracks on Skinn, you’ll find there’s a whole lot of inescapably addictive song writing, fused with an intense yet delicate array of musical performance. There’s a lot to love about the freedom of rock music, the unexpected paths it travels down, the carefree attitude and outlook of the artists. When you combine this with great songwriting; compelling, memorable, even catchy – you’re in for a quality experience.

As mentioned, the songs that have been chosen for this project all seem to sit well together in this ocean of particular ideas, so once you’ve gotten past the desire to rock out and revel in the sound, you can then dive in and find yourself submerged in a world of reflective lyricism. It’s escapism, creatively constructed, with a great pop-rock sound, and some really impressive song writing.

Vegas Holiday brings the weight, the heavy distortion, the crashing drums, all the while holding onto that familiar and easy to listen to leading vocal. It’s interesting to note the placement of the vocal in the recording actually, unlike a lot of punk-pop or melodic-rock bands of recent years, Reality Suite seem to treat the vocal as an instrument – everything is of equal importance, everything fuses together, operates as a unit, and it really sounds much more genuine this way. The guitar solo steps forward for it’s moment, as does the vocal when all else breaks away, as do the drums – a fair few times throughout the project – nothing is there just for the sake of it, and nothing outweighs the value of anything else. It actually adds a little of that 90’s grunge sound to the mix.

Manchester is peacefully thoughtful and comforting to listen to, really letting you drift off into your own little world. Then you get the sharp contrast between Heart’s vocal and David Marcus’ featured vocal. It works well, it has a sort of power ballad, driving anthem sound to it. Playing With Fire brings those stylish riffs back into focus. The vocal placement within the lines makes the storytelling stand tall. There’s an indie-meets-pop vibe about this track – another massive melody, riding around in your mind long after the music has stopped. A little of that guitar peddle play adds a smart touch of freshness as well.

Sinking In has a massively minimal sound to it, which is to say – there’s not as much going on for the most part, there’s a lot of space in the track, but it has the effect of making you want to fill those gaps; it gets you moving, singing along, desperately wanting to learn the lyrics. It’s got a great sound to it that will get you geared up for something big.

Penultimate track The Red Lights has a beautiful, acoustic softness to it, and a poetic nature to the lyrics. A great point within the project to break things down a little. Then it all comes to a close with Save My Life. The essence of pop-rock takes centre stage, an uplifting arrangement of chords, a mellow beat, leading towards a climax, and yet again – a stunning use of melody, in both the verses and the chorus. The whole track just sounds good; optimistic, hopeful, yet lyrically standing firmly on it’s own two feet. A great send off for the album; the perfect end to an all round impressive collection of entertaining and addictive songs.
Reality Suitetag:realitysuite.com,2005:Post/63102542015-09-16T09:25:00-04:002020-05-09T09:29:14-04:00FROSTCLICK: - Skinn review
Here’s a new bunch that promises to get under your ‘SKINN.'

Led by Kimmii Adorea Heart on vocals, seasoned band Reality Suite stuns in their full-length release, “SKINN,” which culls the brand of rock by recent acts Orianthi, Halestorm, and I dare say, THE Courtney Love.

The 10-track banger opens the way a good album should in “Wingman:” muscular rhythms and beats courtesy of the boys (Joe Padula, guitars; Brian King, drums and synths; Antonio Valenti, bass and vocals), and vocal work fronted by Kimmii’s “strong girl” chops.

The band changes tempo come “Conspire,” a kiss-off slow rock anthem, and even the emotionally superb “The Red Lights,” but quickly returns to action with my personal favorite, “Vegas Holiday,” signaling the set’s second act
.
“Sinking In” (reminiscent of early Fefe Dobson) gives us the idea that these guys aren’t slowing down ’til the end. True enough, “Save My Life” seals the deal.
Reality Suitetag:realitysuite.com,2005:Post/63102552015-09-11T09:30:00-04:002020-05-09T09:29:52-04:00BEACH SLOTH - Skinn review
SKINN is a damned near perfect piece of rock, one that incorporates the old and new in the right balance.

Reality Suite’s “SKINN” is a lean mean rock n’ roll machine. Stripped down to the absolute essentials their songs hit hard. Arrangements are muscular with a propulsive rhythm section. Guitars have just the right about of bite and their dynamics are undoubtedly impressive, possessing a raw power. What brings all of these strengths together is Kimmii Heart’s strong vocals which scream with passion and love for life. By bringing this all together so perfectly Reality Suite recalls the best of 70s and 80s rock.

Blasting right into things is the infectious “Wingman”. Full of high energy this song burns through its run time with vigor. A raw funky sensibility delicates the elastic groove of the title track “SKINN”. Slowing things down to a powerful swagger is the dreamy work of “Conspire”. Hard-edged to its core is “Vegas Holiday” whose jagged guitar work is quite wonderful as the song works itself into a frenzied rush. Aptly named is the anxiety of “Playing With Fire”. Lyrically sound the song has defiance imbued into its very heart and soul. Toning things down for a bit is the gentler work of “The Red Lights” whose inclusion of acoustic guitar gives it an open casual feel to it. “Save My Life” ends the album off on a tender note with a driving rhythm and delicate melodic sensibilities.
Reality Suitetag:realitysuite.com,2005:Post/63102562015-09-05T09:30:00-04:002020-05-09T09:28:41-04:00THE RECORD / NEW JERSEY HERALD NEWSPAPERS & NORTHJERSEY.COM
Reality Suite's first full-length album focuses on pure melodic rock

Many bands experiment musically to fight off stagnation. North Jersey's Reality Suite recently found themselves in the opposite position.

By the time the band was ready to begin work on their first full-length album last year, Reality Suite had grown weary of adorning their rock foundation with dance beats and synth-pop, as heard on early singles and EPs.

"I could sense we were tired of trying to be different for the sake of being different," said drummer Brian King. "We weren't focused. We were starting to lose our edge."

Reality Suite decided to concentrate on pure melodic rock and jettison the trimmings, a decision that King said revitalized the five-year veterans and resulted in "Skinn," an exciting and dynamic debut disc that was released Friday. Reality Suite performs on Wednesday in Teaneck.

"We feel like a fresh, new band with new energy and it's very liberating," said King, a Totowa resident and North Haledon native. "The songs that we always seemed to react to best were the straight-ahead rock songs. We finally said, 'Let's just do what we do best.' "

Reality Suite's rejuvenation was sparked in part by the late-2013 arrival of new singer Kimmii Heart, a Lodi resident and Mahwah native. She joined King and his fellow original members, guitarist Joe Padula (Wood-Ridge) and bassist Antonio Valenti (North Haledon).

"Kimmii brought a rock edge and attitude, which furthered our belief in going down a new route," King said. "She's a very commanding singer. Lyrically she's more raw emotion, while my lyrics are more pop, and we complement each other well."

"Skinn" boasts a number of standout tracks, including hook-laden first single, "Die Dreaming," the equally infectious "Save My Life" and "Playing With Fire," and the propulsive "Vegas Holiday."

"The songs have our familiar driving beat and blend edgy rock guitar riffs with catchy vocal melodies," King said. "We want the music to floor you and the chorus to stick in your head."

Album highlights also include re-recorded versions of pre-Kimmii Heart era songs "Manchester" and "Wingman," which benefit from improved production and more aggressive performances.

"We felt we could do some of the older songs more justice from a standpoint of better recording technology and performing them with Kimmii," King said. "We wanted to give some of our old material new life."

King had played with childhood friends Padula and Valenti in separate bands before the trio came together to form Reality Suite in late 2008.

"Joe and I grew up on and liked a lot of the same bands like the Foo Fighters, Van Halen and Kiss, so when it comes to songwriting, we're usually on the same page," King said. "We influence and complement each other and there are no egos getting in the way.

"Antonio and I, being the rhythm section and knowing each other for so long, it's just an organic feeling of knowing where the other is going," he said. "Overall, the chemistry between the entire band is derived from open minds and mutual respect."

Reality Suite released its debut EP, "Blueprints for Building a Better ___ ," in 2010. A second EP, "Avoiding the Red Light," followed in 2012.

King said the band will market "Skinn," which was released on Reality Suite's own 4K Deep label, to independent record companies and radio stations. He said he is optimistic that "Skinn" will draw a positive response from both veteran Reality Suite fans and new listeners.

"We're extremely proud of the album," King said. "There's no filler. It's very solid all the way through."
Reality Suite
